There were between 20 to 30 young people in the leadership team responsible for the morning quiet times in each dormitory, for any pastoral care as well as taking care of sports, leisure activities and workshops. Sunday was designated "africa day" with the meeting led by african christian refugees from the nearby political refugee centre. They took care of different workshops including: african dance, african food, african hair-braiding and african percussion. The prayer and worship time took on an african flavour. I had to prepare morning and evening teaching sessions over 10 days. The young people were very receptive. The team met for an hour twice a day before meetings for planning and prayer. The camp director, Daniel, and his wife Phoebe, Claire and myself, also met with the kitchen staff each morning to pray. Daniel was teaching at the Science Faculté of the Mon's University before the "lyme" illness prompted him to take early retirement. he has been director of youth camps in Belgium for 40 years. On the final evening we had sketches, testimonies, a brief message and a bonfire with a time of worship which went on till the early hours of the morning. Many thanks for your prayers. Camp de jeunes Dieu était fidèle et nous étions encouragés de voir le désir des jeunes de se rapprocher de Dieu. Nous étions entourés par un groupe de 20 à 30 moniteurs qui avaient différentes responsabilités: temps biblique par dortoir, soin pastoral, sports, loisirs, ateliers. Le dimanche était consacré à l'Afrique. Un groupe de chrétiens africains du centre pour réfugiés politiques a conduit la louange et a proposé divers ateliers (tressage de cheveux, percussion africain, plat africain, danse africain). J'ai préparé deux messages par jour sur dix jours. Les jeunes étaient très réceptifs. L'équipe s'est réunie deux fois par jour avant les réunions pour la coordination, le partage et la prière. Le directeur du camp, Daniel, et sa femme Phoebe, Claire et moi-même avons eu la possibilité de prier avec l'équipe de la cuisine chaque matin pour la prière. Daniel était enseignant à la Faculté des Sciences à L'Université de Mons. Suite à la maladie de "lyme" il a dû prend un temps de repos. Il est directeur des camps en Belgique depuis 40 ans. La dernière soirée, nous avons eu droit aux sketchs, aux témoignages, à un bref message suivi par un feu de camp accompagné par des chants de louange. Merci pour vos prières. |
